We picked up Bridget the Budget truck in mid July and had given ourselves plenty of time to move across the country. For the most part it was an easy drive, lots of flat easy driving. It was the first time I ever drove east, which doesn't sound all that strange except as you go east the roads get crazier and crazier. More cars, more trucks, more everything. I suppose it was a sign of things to come, a way of easing into the city. As far as things to see, there was little of note. Kansas is a god awful state, why so many people live there is a mystery to me. We stuck to the Interstate the whole way, which in hindsight, I wish we would have traveled on the highways. Maybe we would have seen a little more of the countryside. Honestly though, I'm not sure it would have been all that more exciting. Maybe on the way back, we didn't even get to see the Corn Palace!

Kansas Rocks!
This was a sweet hotel, they had a real nice spread in the morning, along with goats next to the parking lot. It just wouldn't have been a trip without some goats.
Who needs a Corn Palace when we found the largest chair in the Midwest. Oh and right next to it is a very large doghouse.
This was before we left St. Louis, the picture stinks cause the humidity was so high that it fogged up the lens. Yes, St. Louis is warm in the summer. This is Molly, her dad, and her new dog Lily.
I think this is Ohio, but to be honest it could have been anywhere, all the roads and towns looked the same from the Interstate. I'm sure that we drove by all sorts of nice people, but who would ever know, lots of America looks really boring.
On the other hand you have New Jersey. The Garden State.
Finally we crossed into New York over the George Washington bridge, it was nice, big trucks on all sides, and no idea where the hell we were going. We couldn't really read the signs because the trucks were blocking the view, so I just guessed. We did a good job of getting lost in The South Bronx once because of some bad directions from Budget, but after a quick stop at a gas station, we were on our way south to our apartment that we had never seen. Thank god it was the hottest day of the year. We will forever be indebted to Brian and Andrew who helped us move in at 8 am, while they had been out all night drinking.
