Quick Notes and Thanksgiving

( Note: This will be a quick and easy post. Lot's of pictures and descriptions)

Jess came out to visit this past fall and we had a really good time. She also did the UCD thing, but the two of us say it was just to hangout with me. Jess got in on a Thursday and we went right out for food and beers. The first place we went to was Kinsale, and ended the night at some place called "One fish, Two fish". Lets just say it is not a place two kids like us want to end up in at two in the morning. Bu the beer tasted like tequila so we had that going for us. The rest of the weekend was spent wondering in the rain and catching up on life and all the brother, sister stuff.

Peddle Jess, they are catching you!

On the Brooklyn Bridge, notice how happy and dry we are.

Are those rain clouds? Or just a swooping pigeon Jess.

Yep, those were rain clouds. At the middle of the bridge on our way to Brooklyn to get pizza the rain came. We had to book it back to the subway stop. Jesse runs funny.

Safe and warm on the subway.

The next collection of pictures are of my thanksgiving spent alone. Molly went home and I got stuck at work. I made the best of my one day off by going to see the parade in the rain. I had a quick dinner at home and the finished the night boozing with my adoptive Irish family at Kinsale. The Broncos also lost in the debut of the NFL network.

In case you have never seen the parade, there are only a few "viewing spots", so you have to get in a huge Avenue long line to get to the front. The police let you stand for about two floats and a balloon to travel by, then they make you walk away from Broadway. I went to the Times Square viewing area, and as you can see it was wet!

By now I'm getting close to Broadway, but I'm still standing in line. The balloons are normally a hundred feet up in the air, but the winds were so bad they had to keep them close to the ground.

Somehow as I was pushed forward in line I got stoped by the police right as Santa was coming by. It was so cool being right on street level for the big man. You will notice those umbrellas right in front of me. There was a family who was behind me with three kids who were screaming to see Santa. So being a nice country kid I pushed them forward and when they were in front, the parents popped their umbrellas. Oh well.

Santa! Oh so dreamy!

Later that night, warm and dry in the pub. As I said, I met some family who was celebrating their first Thanksgiving with extended family who lives in NYC. The group took pity on me and swept me into their family and fed me beer. I fit right in.
